No weight lost yet

Weighed the same this morning.
Today I went swimming, not hard or fast, swam about 1/3 mile slow, open water without a wetsuit. Swam the way back faster and beat Linda out of the water.

Came home & did a 10 minute legs video.
After work I did the upper body 21 day fix.
Tracking all exercise and food intake.

I better start losing weight soon.

BeachBody

I weighed 161.4 lbs this morning.

I signed up for a month of Shakeology and Beach Body workouts, did the whole body cardio video yesterday, so sore today. Today I did a youtube Abs vid and it hurt every second of the way. I had intended to do another one this evening but the in-laws showed up and didn't leave till after dinner.
I'll be swimming in the morning at 7.30 so hope I can get one in before I have to be at work at 10.45. The beach body videos are mostly only 20-30 minutes, or the ones I have seen anyway. A 20 minute workout is better than none.

I haven't received the Shakeology and portion control containers; dieting will be easier when I get those. I borrowed some from Rhonda but they still had nasty food in them when she gave them to me, yuk! I didn't use them and have them cleaned and packaged to give back to her.
I'm also back with www.myfitnesspal.com to track my food and exercise. Last summer I did this and even though I was in the hard & heavy training for Ironman I didn't lose any weight, not an ounce.
This time I'll be replacing breakfasts with a shake, adding a bit more to it like a bit of Greek yogurt and an extra scoop of fiber and frozen strawberries for taste. Some people say the shakes taste too planty and I don't know if I can down a pounder of plants.

I'll be in Hawaii in 32 days, I can't be this fat!
Look at the second layer of muffin top.
OMG!
WTF??

HORSE NEWS:
I have purchased all 12 of the 6"x8"x20' posts for the new barn upright posts.
These will be spaced 12 & 24 feet from the arena posts and for stall walls.

This is the first view I got of the arena and the old stalls, yesterday Lan and I removed the metal walls and most of the wood walls too.

The horses can use it like this a lot easier than they were able to use it before with just one door and all of them trying to get inside. Now a few can get in if they want and have an easy exit.
We had the pigs in here for a month, until they got flooded out and then we moved them next door into a smaller stall, which they hated.

Playing It Smart

I didn't run today in the Iron Horse Half Marathon, feet were much to sore but I did start stretching exercises Lan showed me and they already feel better. I sit with my back up against a wall with my legs straight out in front of me, then I use my shin & foot muscles to pull my toes toward my torso and hold for at least 20 seconds. I can't do it very well, Just having my feet stand at a 90 degree angle is painful but the more I do it the better they will feel and the faster they will let me run on them.

The people who do todays half marathon also do another one at the end of September in Alki Beach and it was suggested to me that I ask if I can switch to that one. We'll see. It is still I n the 90 day time mark for half fanatics.

Getting Ready To Run

I'm getting mentally ready to run the Iron Horse Half Marathon on Sunday. I've had yesterday and today off, I work tomorrow morning & then I have 2 days off.
My feet have been giving me pain and I think its Plantar fasciitis; if so, I'm in for a world of hurt if I'm not really careful. I'll be losing some weight this next month and I sincerely hope this helps.

Barn Girl

I love that I've got a barn girl and her mother here at our new farm. They have been so good to have around and its fun to watch them grow as horse women.
T is going to state with her mare next month and they were talking about camping in their truck or staying in the dorms and since I used to work in those dorms I was able to answer a lot of questions and tell them how it really is.
  • No sleep
  • Snoring
  • Stealing
  • Uncomfortable beds
  • Crowded showers
  • Noisy ~ its the fair

And here are reasons to stay there
  • Showers
  • Close to the horses
  • Close to all other girls in club
  • Convenient
I've got a few things T needs for fair, a tack trunk, withers relief pad, few other things.

I've had this tack trunk for 20 years, I love it. It's lockable so your stuff is safe, its sturdy so you can sit on it, its got cup holders. I wonder if shes got a stable sheet to keep her mare clean overnight because she WILL poop and lay in  it.

Today I made another big life change. Transferred my entry into the Marine Corp Marathon (October 30 in Arlington, VA) and am making plans to do another Ironman race in 2017.
Hoping I can get in to the one I want.

Which is
IRONMAN ARIZONA 2017

Suzie has an early entry into it so I asked her if she doesn't use, may I please have it and she said maybe. She wants to do Chatty again. But I'm sure she will give her early entry to someone else that she likes better than me.

Lori sent me a text the other day, saying shes got the bug and would I like to do it again with her. I asked Lan, he said I can't whine to him about training. I promised I'd only whine half as much as last time.

MCM was and still is on my bucket list and I'll enter the lottery again when I don't have something else going on at that time of year. This year its Hawaii for the Ironman Championships.
I also want Lan to have a chance to do another Ironman, I can't hog them all.
And I cried over this decision.

USAT Age Group Nationals

A few months ago I told you about how I qualified at Irongirl Sprint Tri 2015 in Seattle for the
USAT Age Group Nationals,
I came in the top 10% and was invited to race in Omaha, Nebraska against the other top 10%
in the nation.
This is the weekend they raced and several of my friends went;
Windy, Barb and Lindy.

And this is the medal they all received in the Olympic distance

Windy 3:20:39 age 44
Bard 3:25:47 age 54
Lindy 4:18:58 age 70

I wish I had been able to go to the race but working where I do just doesn't allow summertime vacations. My supervisor encouraged me to go but I'm not stupid, it would have been a waste of money. Today they were paying overtime for someone else to show up, he would NEVER have given me today off.

And its about 100* in Omaha, that would have sucked.

Long Run Interupted, by Death

Yesterday I lost my cat, Dave.

He went out to the road and met disaster.

Dave was my snuggler for the last 7 years, he loved to be carried and played with.

He also liked to help do chores. Here, he helped seal with skylights in the old barn.

When I fed horses he liked to go with me into the pastures.

Dave especially LOVED to ride on the hay.

Ah, there he is as a kitten.
I miss my boy with so much of my heart.

Here he is with his sister, Precious. She also got hit by a car, when she was only about 1 year old.

The plight of a farm cat.
We can't keep them indoors.

Here is his final resting spot.
Lan dug the hole when he got home, Dave was placed on a flake of hay that he loved so much, inside the grave. His buddies, Hagen and Tank were placed inside with him so they can all play in heaven together again.

I love my pets so much and miss these ones enough to make my heart hurt.

I loved you, Dave.

It Felt Great

I got out of bed at 7am and immediately dressed to run. I had to be at work at 10:45, I had to leave 40 minutes before then to get there on time, allowing time for any freeway work and to drop off our voter thingys.
I wanted to run about 5-5.5 miles so planned to do that, go out to Pine road & Madrona and back home. What I forgot about was the hills on those roads. Lakeway is pretty steep up and Oak, Pine and Spruce would all be almost as steep going down. So I had to walk up Lakeway and go slow down Oak. I didn't make I t to Pine, I was going to slow up the hill to have time to go the extra mile.
But it was a good run. I did 5.1 miles in 1:04 and I'm totally happy with that. I felt good toward the end, not dying, and didn't have to walk too much. I think I'll be able to run at least half the Iron Horse half marathon (all downhill) now and be OK with it.

Argo

This is Argo
A beautiful Friesian mare who foaled her 2nd foal 3 weeks ago and suddenly, Argo got sick and had to be put down. Argo was the same age as my Wifi, they were pasture mates when Wifi was weaned and they spent a lot of other time together. I am heart broken for her owner.
Her new filly will be raised by a 29 year old nurse mare now.

These are our horses, freaking out because they noticed a big hay bale up on the hill in the back pasture. They spent 10 minutes running around, snorting and freaking out over it.

Tonight they were all given dewormer, groomed and fly sprayed. All of them look pretty good, except mine are too fat and Roses is too skinny.
Joey had a sarcoid on the back of his rear leg and there might be another one beginning to grow on his barrel. That one is on his side and right where a cinch would go so if it is one, he is definitely retired.

I want to ride my horses again. I miss riding Wifi. I miss riding Sunshower. I miss riding Joey.
