This SURPRISE Was Awesome

Lan surprised me with a trip up to the top of the 

Tacoma Narrows Bridge

It's been on my bucket list since 1986

We were driven by Daniel on the pedestrian walkway to the first set of towers on the new bridge

First we went down and walked around the caissons, supports

The tower on the right is the only part remaining from Galloping Gertie

Here we are in the elevator. It measured about 3'x4'

Here I am climbing out the hatch onto the top of the tower

When A Surprise Is Imminent

 Lan told me two days ago that he's been planning a surprise for me for 2 years 

and today he's going to spring it on me. 

All I know is we will go to Tacoma.

I'll need my hiking boots and a jacket

(it's raining and chilly)

And that's it.

In an hour or two it shall begin.

Been Quiet Here

Amble has her own chicken

Seriously, it seems to always be with her

I sbought 2 toy horses, painting them to look like her.

Obviously theres a lot left to paint

but I'm having fun doing it. At work, in my spare time.

Speaking of work, I fucked up my bid & I'll be working Vashon Island. Ugh.

I'll have to ride a fucking boat to get there & those fuckers are ALWAYS late.

Its only 3 months though and I'll keep trying to get back to Bremerton with the temp bids.

 

Mack & Gussy Have Moved

On Friday we rose the sxs on Naches Trail for about 7 hours. It was hot & dusty but so beautiful and the woods just smell so good. After the ride I was a hot sweaty & muddy mess.

We came home Friday evening.

Saturday I worked, came home, was cleaning the barn & Erin showed up with her trailer. 

It was moving day for Mack & Gussy.

I'm going to miss these guys, they've both been here for about 4 years

and we've known Mack for a long time before that. Mack was at the old farm for 3 years.

 

Another Trip

We're going camping for just one night, up to American River on the eastern side of Chinook Pass to ride the sxs on the Nackes Trail. We've ridden this side of the trail but never all the way across.

This machine is such a blast

 

Dog Days

So much going on but nothing to talk about. 

The garden is finally producing, and I love gathering the foods. Yesterday I got the 5th zucchini, a bunch of beans and 3 carrots. 

This is a carrot I pulled last week, spent 3 months growing it and Wifi spent a minute eating it.

There are now 5 zucchini on the table waiting to be grated & freeze dried

 and I'll prolly FD the beans too.

There are 2 pumpkins growing, one is much larger & I want to carve 'Soren' in to it so its there when he gets it at Halloween. I just don't know how to do it perfectly.

Work sucks, as it always does. I helped get a dumbass newbie fired last week. They are changing shit all around and I'll get fucked in the ass because of it and that pisses me off. Other people who are ahead of me in seniority (3, only 3 people) are just as pissed as I am.

Today asshole Mack pinned back his ears and attacked Amble and me and that made me mad. I send a text to his girl and told her its time for him to go. I'll give her the 1.6 bales of hay she has bought. I'll give her the option to leave Gussy here. I might as well have him since hes not mean as Mack.

 

Summer Is Here

 Summer starts on July 5th in Washington State and this year is no exception. Today is going to be about 73* and it looks like the next week or so will have pleasant temperatures as well.

On June 21, the Summer Solstice, Amble turned into a yearling.

I've kept track of her on a growth chart and shes not getting a lot taller but she is getting bigger.

Her green waterproof sheet I used on her during winter is now way too small but she is big enough for the horsey print polar fleece cooler.

Wifi is so pretty, every season her color is different than the one before. 

I am in love with this mare.
